So, then you start thinking about really building a district in a small city within a city. "We have a. Malcolm D. But the honesty of saying you dont know all the answers and figuring out what the solutions are is probably like pretty powerful in the way things work. What you do is you submarine the entire process into yourself. How do we talk beyond just coming to Milwaukee, but how do we do business together? It was one of these terrible times where, when youre in pro sport, you book all your revenue, you do all your dirty business before tip-off and if they didnt have somebody to run the business in July, it wouldve been a disaster and they were stuck with me and thats my road to success. And we thought we were in a place and we're nowhere close to how good we can be or how we can use this NBA platform and our players and our organization to help change the community, to help change our performance as a team, and to be better citizens. How could we keep everybody afloat as long as we possibly could? Peter: We knew each other. When you show up for the first day, are you pinching yourself? "Now we have to monitor and figure out and organize the groups that travel from Greece to away games and organize the meet-and-greets after the game, which by the way, aren't scheduled. Crazy simple story grew up in New York City, Manhattan on the Upper East Side, went to high school in Brooklyn. Because I know a lot of coaches, lot of presidents, lot of GMs, I run into them and I ask them, can I look at your ring? Although he has made a career of being in high-powered executive positions, he doesn't necessarily dress the part all the time. Peter Feigin: Yeah. Peter: We like to be, delusionally optimistic. Peter: it worked in such a great way for me and with a magic wand really evolved into one of the most incredible jobs ever. Then I think the big huge growth for NBA is how do we really figure out what our media is domestically and what it is internationally like in the next two years, which is changing dramatically. And then kind of understanding that he knew I was kind of keen on the operation side and understood a team and an organization's P&L for a good way. That's like, that's today's kind of like, "What are we focused on?". We don't have a business, not sure when we will have a business. All of a sudden, 12 months ago, that went upside down, and with Giannis, it literally went international, national, regional, local, which is a great turnaround for us.". Nobody ever thought it would be a year shutdown, but our owners are kind of incredible people, who want to see a plan, who want to see a recommendation and want to go forward. You're exactly right. How do we continue to not only understand it, but monetize it in a very big way? And our expectations are to consistently improve and grow as a business and consistently improve on the court and vie for a championship. Michael Red: The facilities, everything that you guys have done so far is remarkable. Peter Feigin: And you've got to put with everything going on in the world, there's got to be that balance of like, "Hey, there are priorities." It all matters what state youre in and whats going on with the legislation. We had a ceremony and we had, and out of all the things in the experience, like I want to be in a parade every day. And what sort of plan could we have when there was some sort of light at the end of the tunnel to kind of ramp back up in a big way. John: Yeah. Kind of surreal. You talk about your operating board committee, youve got these Masters of the Universe, and really you start with the answer. But, boy, you talk about how you go to sleep like the night, a night in March, in the middle of March last year thinking like, "Oh, my God. Do we want this guy to keep playing? Hes the president of the Milwaukee Bucks and hes a native New Yorker. They all had the space, they're at Disney, they have all the amenities. You had to kind of build the equity by saying what you're going to do and then doing it. John: This must be one of the greatest rides of her life seeing you do this whole journey, huh? In a 10 year phase, I started with a startup with Marquis Jet, with Kenny Dichter and Jesse Itzler who started the business and came from sports. You got to think about what the objective is, but I truly do believe, just no is not an answer if you surround yourself with smart people. And obviously, you have dealt with a little bit of this with Sterling Brown a couple years ago, so you guys happened to prepare for this a little bit. "Why would we wait till tomorrow when we can get it done today?" Peter: Yeah, it is a combination of both because you really, I had a real rare opportunity to get out of sports and work outside of the sports industry for wealth. I do."
