It showed some Americans in a positive view for a change, that there are some good Americans with great spirit.
My Dad stayed awake throughout, so it must be good! A heroic action-thriller, “The Finest Hours” is the remarkable true story of the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history. The Finest Hours is based on a true story about a man named Bernie (played by Chris Pine)who sets off on a journey to save the 32 oil tankers who were left stranded on their boat on a very stormy night including Bernie's friend played by Casey Affleck. Produced by Jim Whitaker and Dorothy Aufiero, the screenplay is by Oscar® nominee Scott Silver and Oscar nominees Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson, based on the acclaimed non-fiction book of the same name by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias. So will Bernie rescue them all. We had newer and better boats than the old 36's. I did enjoy the film and would recommend it.

Presentation is a little old school, but the makers did a superb job of transporting me back to the 1950's and making me realise wht incredibly brave and intelligent people were involved in this incident. But I saw worse weather than in the movie.
As the senior officer on board, first assistant engineer Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) soon realizes it is up to him to take charge of the frightened crew and inspire the men to set aside their differences and work together to ride out one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast. It's a true story about a Coast Guard rescue in 1952 off the coast of Cape Cod. He plays a coast guard in early 50s America and this is based on a true story. I recently visited the USA and by chance found myself at the memorial to the Pendleton and the amazing rescue crew. Thank you Disney, for telling our story.
Despite overwhelming odds, four men, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine), set out in a wooden lifeboat with an ill-equipped engine and little, if any, means of navigation, facing frigid temperatures, 60-foot high waves and hurricane-force winds. Next On Disney+ - March 2020 | Disney+ | Now Streaming From Walt Disney Pictures comes “The Finest Hours,” the unforgettable story of the Coast Guard’s courageous mission, which is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars: Chris Pine; Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee Casey Affleck; Ben Foster; Holliday Grainger; John Ortiz; and Eric Bana. The film depicts the true story of the dramatic sea rescue which took place in the waters off 'Cape Cod' on the 18th and 19th of February 1952A very good movie that will leave you at the edge of your seat A very believable political situation.
One half sinks but the other remains though it is in great danger.
Also starring Cinderella's Holliday Granger and Eric Bana I thought this film was brilliant. All but one of the men get on this small boat - it is surprising that it does not sink under the sheer weight. Presented in Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D, the film will transport audiences to the heart of the action, creating a fully-immersive cinematic experience on an epic scale. This movie is a film about the courage of seemingly ordinary people under great stress, and is faithful to the spirit of the rescue and the traditions of valor that run deep in the US Coast Guard.
I presume that is to make the movie understandable to those that didn't serve in the CG. A movie a family can go see.
Loyalty | The Finest Hours Heads up parents, this is worth watching with your kids.
This film had me on the edge of my seat once it had got going. Presented in Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D, the film will transport audiences to the heart of the action, creating a fully-immersive cinematic experience on an epic scale. The film adds a bit of love interest, but is sympathetically played by the cast amid dramatic scenery Well worth watching.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 30, 2019 This was an excellent film, true story of the greatest rescue mission in the USA Coast Guard history, & the courage of the crew in the face of overwhelming odds to rescue the men on a sinking oil tanker when a massive storm strikes off the coast of Cape Cod. At last! Incredible stormy sea footage plus some super, authentic 1950's land sets. Excellent film plus it's a true story. So I decided to buy the dvd. Saw this on disney channel the other week in bed. Video availability outside of United States varies. I had high hopes for this movie adaptation of the book, and have to say that Disney did not disappoint. Extremely enjoyable film. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.
